The author discusses works of three composers who live in Italy: Michelangelo Lupone, James Dashow and himself. He focuses on analysis of three works, Mnemonics (Dashow) for violin and tape, Mobile/Locale (Lupone) for percussionnist, tape, and live electronics and Plex (di Scipio) for double bass and tape. For each work, he presents a model of compositional design and information concerning the work's technical realisation with several examples of score and computer listings. He concludes with some considerations on software sound synthesis and the role of the live instrument.
