In this paper, the author explores the innovative and aesthetic potential of blurring the distinction between algorithmic composition and timbral design in computer music composition. Traditionally, these two approaches reflect separate cognitive features in the compositional process, a dualistic paradigm of music composition that the author puts into question through a holistic compositional perspective.
