Jacques Poullin wrote this paper when he was collaborated with Pierre Schaeffer in the Groupe de Recherche de Musique Concrète at the French radio-television.

The electroacoustic techniques of recording allow the user to analysis and transform the dynamics and spectrum of sound material. The devices for such transformations include the phonogène (for spectrum transposition) and morphophone (for dynamic evolution transformation). Editing, mixing and spatialisation are realised with multi-tracks recorder.

The first part studies the different forms of notation for sound objects: the physical traditional method, the FFT, the three-dimensional Schaefferian method and the symbolic method. The second part describes different sonic transformations realised with tape and the phonogène. The last part presents the subject of spatialisation of musique concrète.
