This articles presents an interview with composer François Bayle regarding his music career and affiliation with the Groupe de Recherches de Musique Concrète (GRM). He speaks about his acquaintance with Pierre Schaeffer and offers his views on the emergence of musique concrète, the performance of tape music and the legacy of GRM's research activities. He offers some very basic definitions of the terms morphology, electroacoustic and acousmatic. He also discusses the scandal surrounding the performance of Edgard Varèse's ‘Déserts' for orchestra and tape in 1954.
