In this brief paper, the authors offer a review of computer music-based research into auditory-visual associations. They focus on research that has been conducted in three particular areas: graphic sound synthesis, colour and sound, and synaesthesia, observing that there is no general theoretical framework for auditory associations that is based on empirical studies.
