In this paper, the authors offer a brief introduction to networked music ensembles. They then examine an approach that has been designed to increase the modes of interactivity between networked laptop performers, referring to software implementation that was developed for the BLISS networked laptop ensemble. They also suggest ways in which the audience may be assisted in discerning and identifying the sonic characteristics of a particular laptop performer within a networked group.
