This is the author's first book which is intended to identify various reasons why experimental music, including electroacoustic music, is not reaching the public it deserves. Besides identifying that education and the mass media are working against acceptance of these bodies of music, the problem also lies with the composers who, in general, do not seem to be involved with this issue threatening the future of a large percentage of innovative music. This is investigated from socio-cultural points of view, content, the political axis and is followed by a number of analyses demonstrating means whereby new publics can be aided in terms of appreciation.
