In this interview, Joel Ryan discusses his early work (1970's) on the development of computer music systems, in particular real-time DSP (digital signal processing) systems. He discusses his approaches towards finding a meaningful music through the use of computers, the influence that George Lewis had on his musical development, and his collaborative work with the Frankfurt Ballet.
