El evento sonoro, como el objeto sonoro, es definido por el oído humano como la partícula autocontenida más pequeña de un paisaje sonoro. Pero evento sonoro no es igual a objeto sonoro. Mientras que este último es un objeto de estudio acústico y abstracto, el evento sonoro es un objeto de estudio simbólico, semántico o estructural, y por lo tanto un punto de referencia que no puede devenir abstracto, relacionado con un todo de magnitud más grande que sí mismo.
