In this article, the authors, through analysis of scenes from the film Black Hawk Down, examine the ways in which sound and timbral development plays a crucial role towards defining, substantiating and sustaining moral thematics concerning the maturation of feminised boys into masculine heroes through war — soldiers who “do the right thing” when faced with moral dilemmas no matter what their orders.
