In this paper, the author discusses the development of an introductory course of study called ‘Musical Informatics' that is based on the common principles and concepts of musical information processing independent of different kinds of hardware, software, MIDI equipment and student's speciality. The author presents the Musical Informatics approach through a diagrammatic scheme showing the list of fundamental disciplines and technological directions and how these are interconnected within the course of study.
