This article is a commemoration of the GROOVE (Generating Real-time Operations On Voltage-controlled Equipment) and VAMPIRE (Video and Music Program for Interactive Real-time Exploration/Experimentation) systems both of which ran on large machines. The PC has eclipsed these machines for most users but can emulate these musical methods.
