This book is a large-scale analysis of De Natura Sonorum (1975) by Bernard Parmegiani in two parts. The first part contains a complete description of each movement: the source material, techniques and technologies used by the composer. A visual representation realised by the composer completes this part. In the second part, Jean-Jacques Nattiez applies his semiology theory to this electroacoustic work. He defines the poïetic, analyses Parmegiani's manner of composition, and investigates the poïetic and semiology in music.
A glossary and catalogue of Parmegiani's musical work complete the book.
