He contextualises his discussion on electronic developments in music making from a historical perspective, noting that the intervention of the computer in music was a revolutionary turning point. He discusses important musical software and hardware developments, and the composers and works that exemplify the musical potentials of these developments - he also offers a discography of the works mentioned in the text.
