In this paper, the author offers a brief overview of turntablism and discusses recent technological developments. He argues that turntable musicians have not yet fully explored the potentials of digital technology, and that this is in part due to the development of digital DJ tools that do not offer new means of musical expression, but that only seek to evoke the familiar past.
