In this article, the author notes that due to technological advances in the electronic projection if sound, the sonic invasion of public space has grown, and there has been little opposition to this growth. She argues that due to the power of sound in terms of the influence it can have at the societal level, those who have the power of control over the public dissemination of sound, the means through which to alter the public soundscape, have a certain level of control over public life.
