This article focuses on the architectural approach to composition in the works by Xenakis and Stockhausen. Despite their many differences, these composers considered the spatial dimension inner to sound as a fundamental dimension in the creative process. The most significant examples of this attention are the projects of the two World-Expo editions, where they put artistic, scientific and mathematical disciplines on the same level.

L’articolo indaga l’approccio architettonico alla composizione di Xenakis e Stockhausen. Sebbene con approcci divergenti, essi affidarono alla dimensione spaziale intrinseca ad ogni suono un’importanza fondamentale nel processo di oggettivazione del processo creativo. Esempi significativi furono i progetti presentati alle due edizioni dell’esposizione mondiale, che integravano discipline artistiche, scientifiche e matematiche.
