The author analyses the relationships between music, media and technologies, in two parts:
- A general description of various mechanical, electrical and digital technologies for composing music, musical theories and various musical genres. - An analysis of the problematic relationship between music and technologies: the various myths (hi-fi, sound reproduction, master technologies), and how it is possible to lose sight of the music through a concentration on technology-based research.
The author proposes a new direction based on listening to rediscover the music.
