In the article, the authors reflect on two innovative projects that were completed at Debenham High School, a rural Suffolk comprehensive school of 450 pupils aged between 11 and 16. Through the context of these two projects the authors comment on the positive influence of acoustic ecology within classroom composition. They also discuss how approaches to soundscape and acoustic ecology can be important pedagogically as the technologies on which they draw can democratise musical practice when used in an appropriate way.
