The author presents different categories of transformations. He defines each of the sound transformations through two criteria: identities and distance from untransformed sound. He based his demonstration on several examples from works by Chowning, Harvey, Reich, Risset, Saariaho, Truax, Vaggione, Viñao and Wishart.
