In this article, the author puts forward the idea that in order to accommodate change in the current (2002) pedagogic model of music education, the philosophy of allowing all sounds to enter into musical discourse should be stressed, as this is the reality in which much of the music that many teenage students listen to is produced. In addressing this issue the author presents a series of models that are aimed at developing an approach to the creative process that integrates composition, performance and education.
