The Composition of Electroacoustic Music

This dissertation contextualises the author's compositions that were submitted as part of his doctoral work. The text begins by posing several questions concerning the state of electroacoustic music, in particular focusing on the fact that the word, electroacoustic, covers many genres, many of which are not clearly identified or grouped together. Concentrating to a large extent on concepts from Schaeffer, he then goes on to discuss his portfolio from a number of points of view. One of the most unusual elements of this relatively short dissertation is the extensive glossary; some of these entries have been included on the EARS site.
