The publication in book form of Brech's doctoral thesis focuses on how the sonogram can be used in electroacoustic music analysis. After creating the context for the work in part 1 of the thesis, she creates a methodology that she subsequently applies in analyses of Wishart's Vox 5, Parmerud's Repulse and Harvey's Ritual Melodies after which she makes some comparative interpretations.
